Hello Fellow Pre-PAers,
We are almost there!! One more week left until sweet summer bliss (unless you are doing summer school like me, then enjoy your 1 week off...). Thank you to everybody who has been coming out and supporting the club at meetings and fundraisers throughout the year, we couldn't do it without you all! If you were unable to attend our banquet last Thursday, we are happy to announce our new board members for the 2016-2017 school year: Stevie Lamb - Digital Manager Nicollette Rayray - Treasurer Lisa Lee - Vice President (previously Treasurer) We can't wait to get started next year with some more improvements and expansions of the club. Since it is the end of the year, we want to hear your feedback and recommendations for what we can do better! Please use the following link to fill out an anonymous survey regarding your experience with the club and what you liked and didn't like: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HZW3Z28 We still have the code for the Kaplan GRE courses at a 10% discount. If you are an official member and have been active in the club this past year (attended at least 2 meetings and 1 fundraiser each quarter for 2 out of the 3 quarters) then you are eligible to get the code! This is perfect for those of you who plan to take the GRE this summer or within the next year (the code works for a year). If you are interested and meet the criteria, please email us and we will send you the code! If you have any pictures from various fundraisers/meetings this past year or the banquet and don't mind sharing please email them to us so we can put them on our website and show off our club! This is farewell until the beginning of Fall Quarter (I know you're disappointed) and we will update you all before the beginning of the quarter with meeting dates and events to start off the new year! We hope you all have a fun and safe summer, enjoy it while you can, and the best of luck with finals! Hello Fellow Pre-PAers,
The end of the quarter is almost here, and that means that we only have a couple meetings left! Make sure to come to our meeting this Tuesday at 6:10pm in Chemistry 179 to talk with members and officers of the club who have gotten hands-on experience in the healthcare field. The biggest obstacle for applying to PA school is figuring out how to get all the hours that you need, so we have put together a panel of generous volunteers who are willing to share their experiences and answer any questions that you might have. If you are a volunteer who is speaking on the panel, you should have received a reminder email from us about the meeting tomorrow, if not please email us and let us know! For our last meeting on May 24 we will be having a representative from Marshall B. Ketchum PA school come to our meeting. Please make sure to mark this off on your calendar and show up! She has generously bought a plane ticket from southern California just to come and talk to us about their program, so let's make her trip worth it. Lastly, if you have a Facebook and think that you will attend our end of the year banquet, please RSVP to the poll on our Facebook page so we can have an estimation of the size of the room and how much food we will need to get! Details about the banquet are in the post. We have many volunteer opportunities in the Davis community available to members this quarter. Hello Fellow Pre-PAers, We hope that these last few weeks of the quarter aren't treating you too badly (although let's be honest they are getting pretty rough). First, thank you to everybody who applied for the Digital Manager position! We will be sending out information regarding interviews shortly and are looking forward to having some new faces on the board next year. Don't forget to take a break from studying for those last midterms to come out to our Sweet and Shavery Fundraiser this Thursday! Make sure to mention Pre-PA Club when you pay so that some of the proceeds come back to the club and we can bring more speakers in for you guys and make the end of the year banquet amazing! (Flyer is attached) On May 24 we will be having a representative from Marshall B. Ketchum PA school come to our meeting. Please make sure to mark this off on your calendar and show up! She has generously bought a plane ticket from southern California just to come and talk to us about their program, so let's make her trip worth it. A few of you have been unable to make meetings and have been asking if we podcast them. Unfortunately we do not have access to the technology to podcast; however, we do take detailed minutes at every meeting that can be found on both our Facebook page under "files" and on our website. If you couldn't make it, make sure to review them and get all the good information about graduate schools and other speakers! Lastly, if you have a Facebook and think that you will attend our end of the year banquet, please RSVP to the poll on our Facebook page so we can have an estimation of the size of the room and how much food we will need to get! Hello Fellow Pre-PAers, Thank you to everybody who attended our Cultive fundraiser last week! If you weren't able to make it, we have another fundraiser at Sweet and Shavery coming up on the 12th. Also, don't forget to come to our meeting this Tuesday May 3from 6:10-7:00pm in Chemistry 179 to hear what the PA Admissions Representative from UOP has to say. Our applications for Digital Manager are still open! If you are interested in becoming more involved with the club and having a say in what we do, make sure to apply! You do not need to have extensive knowledge or experience of digital media to apply, we will help you out along the way! The application is attached and is due May 4. An update regarding CPR certifications: We have emailed SPES multiple times this quarter and even contacted them through their various social media, but have not heard anything back regarding the CPR training we discussed with them last quarter. Unless we hear something back from them soon regarding dates for the training, it does not look like it will be happening this quarter. We apologize to those of you who were looking forward to this! Lastly, if you have a Facebook and think that you will attend our end of the year banquet, please RSVP to the poll on our Facebook page so we can have an estimation of the size of the room and how much food we will need to get!
